MY PROFILE

I am a qualified and experienced teacher of English as a foreign language. I am also a native speaker, educated to honours degree level in English and I offer lessons in Dublin 8, Ireland. I have experience in teaching English as a second language both in Ireland and abroad and, in teaching mixed nationality classes by means of The Callan Method (TM) through English only in Dublin.

MY LESSONS

I use an effective conversational method of teaching English: The Callan Method (TM). Every second the student is either asking a question, listening to a question, answering a question, reading (briefly) or writing a short dictation in English. Every error of pronunciation is corrected until it is perfected. Revision is an important part of each lesson. So too are short readings and dictations. However, speaking, error correction and revision are the main elements. By this method the student learns in the quickest time possible and, the student speaks from the very beginning of his/her studies. Grammar and vocabulary are integrated into the speaking element so that they are learned effertlessly and without stress. The student is completely immersed in English throughout each lesson. Lessons are English only and there is no translation unless absolutely necessary. Translation is done only by means of dictionary work. This ensures that the aim of students speaking, listening, thinking, reading and writing in English is pursued at alll times. This is not a problem if it is done correctly by means of actions, simple definitions, diagrams, handouts, example sentences, etc. The only requirement I have is that students attend lessons as regularly as they can to get maximum benefit.

GROUP LESSONS

Group lessons can be taken weekday evenings.
Monday and Wednesday: two 90 minute lessons.
Tuesday and Thursday: two 90 minute lessons.

Group lessons can also be taken at weekends.
Saturday & Sunday: two 90 minute lessons.
Various times from 1.45pm to 5.15pm: see below.

Group lessons have no more than five students.
Fees are paid for 8 lessons over 4 weeks.

The fees for group lessons (evenings or weekends) are as follows:
120 Euros per 8 lessons over 4 weeks.

Group weekday lesson times (Mon/Wed or Tues/Thur) are as follows:
6.30pm to 8.00pm or 8.15pm to 9.45pm

Group weekend lessons times (Sat & Sun) are as follows:
1.45pm to 3.15pm
3.30pm to 5.00pm
5.15pm to 6.45pm

Stuidents are not allowed to enter lessons until all fees are paid in full.
I do not charge a registration fee.

PRIVATE LESSONS

60 Euros for two 90 minute lessons per week.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

I am located near many public transport links: the Luas and buses 123, 122, 19, 51b & 51c.

I am half-way between the city centre and Tallaght on the Luas red line. I am fifteen minutes from the city centre by Luas.

A free meeting and test is available free of charge.
A student's first lesson is also free of charge.

My lessons are very effective, friendly and stimulating. My students regularly recommend my services to other people. The free meeting is unhurried. I will speak to my students for as long as it takes to know their level of English. More information is also given to students in the first free lesson. Only then should students decide if they would like to pay for lessons. After the free meeting, test and lesson you can think about it and call me. There is no obligation to decide immediately.
