Celebrated on the fourth day of Shukla Chaturthi, Ganesh Chaturthi is a ten-day festival to celebrate the birthday of Lord Ganesha. Exquisitely handcrafted idols of Lord Ganesha are brought to many Indian homes and also, magnificent idols are placed in pandals during this time of the year. Ritual of Prana Pratishtha is performed in which life is invoked in the idol that is followed by Shodashopachara Puja. On Anant Chaturdashi, which is the 10th day, these idols are immersed in the water bodies bidding adieu to the Lord and worshipping him to come back again the following year with greater enthusiasm.

This unique festival in India is widely celebrated in Maharashtra. Much awaited Ganesh Chaturthi 2020 is falling on 22nd August and the festivity will continue till 1st September.
