One of the most picturesque and elaborate festivals of Kerala, Kadammanitta Padayani Festival is a ten-day-long festivity where rituals and customs are the major highlights. Dedicated to the most revered goddess Bhadrakali of Kerala, this annual extravaganza begins with the Chootu Vaipu which means lighting of the fire. This fire is lit with the sacred lamp of Kadammanitta Bhagavathy temple as a part of the ritual. 

Celebrated in the Malayalam month of Medam (March-April), this religious festival gained popularity amongst tourists from all over the world due to the exceptionally beautiful theatrical procession - Kolam which also includes a session of the local drums; the sound of which creates a fascinating vibe in the air.
