It is a matter of concern and shame that human trafficking is still a reality in India. People living at the margins of our society for want of better opportunities or means of livelihood often fall prey to unscrupulous elements and end up being trafficked. Mostly women and children are trafficked by criminal syndicates to various parts of the country and exploited by making them work as sex workers or in hazardous industries. To stop human trafficking in India the causative factors should be addressed first and foremost. These include a lack of education, vocational skills, and opportunities to earn a living. These people can be taught vocational skills and employed in places where they can become entrepreneurs or skilled workers.
